A Day at the Cattle Show at Cockermouth Market 2023
We had the pleasure of sponsoring the annual Traditional Lakeland Show and Sale of Suckled Calves & Store Cattle at Cockermouth Market, and what an event it was! Hosted by the fantastic team at Mitchells Livestock Auctioneers and Valuers, the day highlighted local farming, great livestock, and the tight-knit community that makes Cockermouth such a special place.
We were thrilled to be a part of it, especially since this event is such a highlight in the farming calendar. It was a perfect opportunity to showcase Midland Feeds and connect with farmers from across the region. From the bustling auction ring to the friendly conversations in the pens, there was plenty of excitement in the air, and we couldn’t wait to share in the action.
Sponsoring the Show: Our Role at the Event
As proud sponsors of the traditional Lakeland show and sale of suckled calves, we were able to show our support for the hardworking farmers who make these events possible. As many of you know, it’s all about giving these animals the best start in life, and that’s where our feed comes in. At Midland Feeds, we’re committed to providing quality cattle and sheep feed that helps farmers produce strong, thriving livestock.
It was also an excellent chance for us to chat with some of our customers and get their feedback on how our products are helping their herds. Whether it was hearing about how our feeds had improved cattle weight gain or learning about new farming practices in the area, every conversation was a valuable opportunity for us to grow and better serve the farming community.

The Champion Animal: Sheree with D. Hatton’s Calf
One of the highlights of the day was the Champion Suckled Calf, shown by D. Hatton from Knott End. We were excited to snap a photo with Sheree, one of our team members, who had the honor of being there to witness the champion being crowned. As you can see from the picture below, it was a proud moment for everyone involved, and a true testament to the hard work that goes into raising such high-quality livestock.

The auction itself was fast-paced, with buyers eager to place bids on some of the best animals around. It was a great reminder of just how vital these markets are to the farming community—it’s not just about trading livestock; it’s about the connections that are made, the trust that’s built, and the support that’s shared among farmers, buyers, and businesses like ours.
A Big Thank You to Mitchells Livestock Auctioneers and Valuers
We’d like to extend a huge thanks to Mitchells Livestock Auctioneers and Valuers for organizing such a successful event. Their expertise and hard work make these markets run smoothly year after year, and we’re proud to be a part of it and the opportunity to connect with so many of you will be something we keep continuing to do!

Exciting News: Midland Feeds’ New Store in Workington!
While we’re talking about all things farming, we’d also like to take this opportunity to share some exciting news with our customers! We’ve opened a new store facility in Workington, Cumbria—and it’s now fully stocked with our 4 main products: Mixed Pellets, Cereal Blend, Cereal Mixture, and Biscon Meal.

Events like this remind us of why we do what we do at Midland Feeds.
